We’re baaaaaack! As the city reopened after COVID-19 restrictions, WURD Radio hosted several live broadcasts around the city to meet with fans and share information on its Early Bird membership campaign.
WURD went to Fresh Grocer on Monument Road on June 11 for its first event of the year! Tiffany Bacon hosted a special live broadcast at the store, as WURD staff celebrated reuniting with fans in person after more than a year apart due to the pandemic. Guests enjoyed giveaways, food, fun and the opportunity to join the forWURD movement or renew their memberships. If you missed the fun, take a look at photos and video from the event. And it’s not too late to become a forWURD member!
On Wednesday, June 16, Solomon Jones hosted “Wake Up With WURD” live at JD’s Auto Body & Painting, sharing details on the Go to Know initiative. WURD Radio has partnered with local and national health leaders to launch Go to Know, a campaign with a mission to reduce colorectal cancer among African Americans in southeastern Pennsylvania by providing free kits to complete a colorectal cancer screening in the privacy of your home. Check out photos from the event.
And of course WURD Radio celebrated Juneteenth! As Philadelphia starts to reopen after 16 months spent under COVID restrictions, the freedom we celebrated on Juneteenth took on an extra meaning this year. Michael Coard hosted a very special live broadcast at the Philadelphia Juneteenth Freedom Day March at Spectrum Health. It was an absolute pleasure seeing WURD Radio members and fans come out to show their support!
This is just the start! WURD Radio looks forward to being back in the community and continuing to bring our listeners informed content from a Black perspective! Next up, The Summer of Freedom Neighborhood Love Tour! Check back for additional details!
